Wellbeing Week

We held a Prince’s Mead Wellbeing Week on 3rd-7th February to coincide with Children’s Mental Health Week. Following the national theme for the week “Know Yourself and Growing Together”, the pupils and teachers engaged in meaningful activities designed to help them explore emotions, build resilience, and develop self-awareness. Each day focused on a different theme, creating opportunities for mindfulness, communication, gratitude, and joy.

The week started with a Monday morning assembly, where, Head of Wellbeing, Mrs Jones introduced the whole school to the power of emotions. The characters from ‘Inside Out’ were our focus and the children were asked to have a go at designing their own emotion icon for Prince’s Mead as part of a competition.

Mindful Monday – Children created Happy Memory Boxes, practiced mindful breathing, as well as mindfulness colouring to encourage calmness and self-reflection.

The teachers during their staff meeting in the evening were led through some mindful breathing exercises, as well as reflecting on their personal and professional wellbeing.

Talking Tuesday – Through activities like Emotion Charades and Time Travel, the children practiced recognising emotions, expressing gratitude, and focusing on positive thoughts for the future. During Forest School the children were encouraged to appreciate our beautiful grounds through appreciating the different colours, textures and time to reflect.

Wellness Wednesday – A combination of mindfulness exercises and Healthy Habits Bingo encouraged both physical and emotional well-being.

Thoughtful Thursday – Acts of kindness took centre stage with Gratitude Circles and jars, and a Compliment Chain to celebrate positivity and connection.

Fun Friday – The week ended with a joyful Friday prayers, led by Deputy Head Mr Greenaway with a desert island discs theme and the power that music can bring, leaving everyone feeling uplifted.

Additional activities like Nature Walks, and Creative Expression sessions gave the children more ways to explore emotions in a supportive environment. As well as making glitter jars in science.

It was a week filled with learning, laughter, and personal growth, reminding us all that by knowing ourselves, we can grow stronger together. Find out more about how we support our pupils with their mental wellbeing.
