On Friday 19th May Prince’s Mead welcomed an U11 girls touring cricket team, Windelsham House School from West Sussex.
Despite the somewhat suspect forecast we got under way with Windelsham house batting first. A wicket in the first ball of the match (Platinum Duck!) got us off to a great start, but some resolute batting, despite losing regular wickets, and some wayward bowling from us they managed to reach a total of 101 runs after 20 overs. As we went into bat the rain started and Mr Arkley decided it was over to Mr Thomas to umpire…sorry Mr T!
We got off to a slow start losing a couple of early wickets but some fantastic stroke-play put us ahead of the game at the half-way stage of our innings. We knocked off the runs with 6 overs to spare and took shelter from the elements to enjoy some well-earned match tea!
The girls from both teams played the game in great spirit and there was lots of smiles and laughter both before, during and after the game.
