Our pupils have earned an international accreditation recognising their amazing work in making their school more environmentally friendly and raising eco-awareness amongst fellow pupils.
Achieving Merit in the Eco-Schools Green Flag programme, our newly reformed Green Team were applauded by the Eco-School accreditation team for their “‘switch-off’ campaign with Energy Monitors and awareness posters, reduction of single-use plastics, promotion of environmentally friendly cleaning products and plans to fundraise for endangered animals.
They were also impressed with how the teachers linked environmental issues to a variety of curriculum areas and incorporated learning about global issues not only into the Geography and Science Curriculum, but also into other areas such as RE.
Our Gardening Club have also contributed to the accreditation, by growing vegetables, salad, and herbs to be served to pupils for lunch. And our Catering team by ensuring that there are always plant-based options on the menu.
Adam King, Head of Prince’s Mead said:
“I’m immensely proud of the commitment our pupils’ and staff have made to making our school more environmentally friendly and educating others to consider environmental changes in their school and everyday lives. Our Eco-School journey doesn’t stop here and our Green Team will be working hard to put into place their Action Plan for the next academic year to advance our green credentials even further. Their passion for protecting our planet is an inspiration to us all.”
