Having been away for part of this week donning my School Inspector’s hat, I was reminded of how fortunate we are as a school community in so many ways. The artist Vincent Van Gough said: ‘Great things are done by a series of small things brought together’ and how true this is this Harvest time. In this morning’s Prayers, I spoke about what small things we could do to make a big difference to someone else. Harvest offers us a timely reminder of how fortunate we are and how important it is to share what we have with others. Thank you for instilling this message at home too – I have been touched by the generosity of parents and pupils as we have collected bags of goods for the Winchester Basics Bank.
This last week has been a rather busy one with a number of pupils in Year 6 sitting Pre-tests for their chosen Senior Schools; an exercise that more and more are now doing whether it be for entering 11+ or 13+ schools beyond Prince’s Mead. Although the move to Senior School seems far away for some of you, we are continuously equipping and preparing our children for the next stage of their educational journey. Whether it be the move from our new Nursery to Reception next September, Pre-Prep to Prep, or Prep to Senior School, we are supercharging each child with the skills, confidence and mindset they need, so that when they leave Prince’s Mead, they will not only fly, but launch into their next adventure. How wonderful it is know what a big difference our pupils will be making to the senior school and beyond when this time comes.
I wish you all a very happy, and hopefully dry, weekend. Otherwise, please enjoy those muddy puddles.
