Excitement is building at Prince’s Mead, as the cast for this year’s theatre production Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat is announced today. Over the past few weeks, Year 6 have been filling the corridors with their renditions of “Any Dream Will Do” and “Jacob and Sons” as they prepared for the auditions.
With senior school examinations behind them, Year 6 pupils will now spend the rest of term embracing their characters and bringing this classic Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical to life. Year 5 will also be joining Year 6 on stage this year, providing the choir accompaniment. Get ready to be transported to ancient Egypt and discover the biblical story of Joseph, his coat of many colours, and his journey from slavery to redemption.
Musical Director, Sue Williams, shares her excitement: “It’s been a long time since we performed Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat at Prince’s Mead so we are all every excited. As a sung-through musical, it is one of the most difficult musicals to perform but I’m confident that our Year 6 and 5 pupils will rise the challenge. If the auditions are anything to go by, we are all in for a real treat!”
Behind the scenes a dedicated team of teachers and parents are also working tirelessly to create stunning costumes, set designs, and props to transform the Sports Hall into West End Theatre ready for the end of term performances. Tickets went on sale via Classlist to Year 6 parents on Friday 9th February and will open to Year 5 parents on Friday 23rd February. We are all looking forward to celebrating the creativity and talent of our pupils.
