Excitement is building at Prince’s Mead as we eagerly anticipate the visit of British Paralympic champion Karen Darke MBE, who will be the Guest of Honour at this year’s Speech Day on Friday 5th July.
Karen, renowned for her incredible achievements in paracycling and her inspirational life story, is set to share her journey with the Prince’s Mead community. Karen’s story is one of resilience, determination, and triumph over adversity. After a life-changing climbing accident left her paralyzed from the chest down at the age of 21, she has gone on to achieve remarkable feats in the world of sports and beyond.
A multi-talented athlete, Karen has represented Great Britain in multiple Paralympic Games, securing a silver medal in London 2012 and a gold medal in Rio 2016 in the handcycling time trial. Beyond her athletic prowess, she is an accomplished author, motivational speaker, and an advocate for adventure and pushing the limits of human potential.
