Science

Science at Prince’s Mead is about ‘cultivating curiosity.’

We aim to make science fun and inspiring, encourage children to ask questions and find the answers themselves; through experiments, through research, by making models and by exploring our wonderful outdoor environment.

We have a pond to dip in which has a fantastic range of biodiversity, and the children love to find newts and dragon fly nymphs. And a woodland to explore which is a wonderful place to investigate insulation; a perfect spot to hide pretend ‘mice’ to keep warm, search for minibeasts and learn about camouflage.

We follow the National Curriculum aims, plus a few extra ‘whizzes and pops’ to help fuel a pupil’s enthusiasm for the subject. Children also have the opportunity to become members of the Prince’s Mead Green Team who work hard to champion sustainability and maintain our Eco School accreditation of Distinction.
