Prince’s Mead Uniform Recycling Initiative: Turning Old Clothes into House Insulation

5th December 24

As an Eco-School, sustainability is at the heart of our ethos. Over the past few months, our collaboration with Avena has brought a meaningful recycling initiative to life. Through our Uniform Collection Bin, we’ve been gathering pre-loved school uniforms and transforming them into something extraordinary—house insulation!

By partnering with Avena, a company specializing in repurposing textiles, our donations contribute to the creation of sustainable, high-quality insulation. This innovative approach ensures that materials that might otherwise go to waste are instead given a new life, supporting environmentally friendly housing projects.

Monthly collections have seen a steady flow of donations, reflecting our shared commitment to reducing waste and embracing sustainable practices.

Why is this initiative important?

  • It minimizes landfill waste by repurposing textiles.
  • It supports eco-friendly solutions for housing.
  • It reinforces the value of recycling within our school community.

If you have any old uniforms that are no longer needed, we encourage you to add them to our collection bin, conveniently located at Reception. Thank you for helping us lead the way in making a positive impact!
